What To Bring
FIGMENT offers an alternative to the traditional gallery-based art scene, using interaction and collaboration as tools for wild creativity, and being completely free and open to the public. For information about Dates, Times, and Directions, please visit our 2011 Event Page!
Remember to bring anything that you might need for the day.
There are no concessions of any kind at FIGMENT, although the regular licensed Greenway food vendors will be on-site and there are many restaurant options nearby, including the lobby of South Station. The event will have porta-potties/restrooms. You will be in the heart of downtown Boston, so various drug stores and convenience stores are located nearby.
• Drinking water: There will be no free potable water so remember to bring enough for a hot summer day.
• Food, snacks, and anything else you want for a picnic at the Greenway!
• Sun protection: Sunscreen, a floppy hat or parasol, and sunglasses.
• Any necessary medications.
• Costumes: FIGMENT is the perfect time to play make-believe (for both kids & adults!)
• Bicycles: There is limited bike parking at the event and the busy city cross streets will not be closed, but FIGMENT is still bicycle friendly. You may want to consider decorating your bike with streamers, lights, fake fur, or other art. Be prepared to walk your bike in the actual event area.
• Toys! Hula hoops, poi, croquet sets, knitting, water guns, games – anything that you want to play with or invite others to join you in! Due to the urban nature of the park, please do not bring kites.
Here is a list of things that are PROHIBITED – please do NOT bring them:
• Grills
• Dogs or other pets (unless it is a registered service animal). The event site will be extremely crowded with many thousands of people arriving throughout the day. Dogs and crowds don’t mix!
• Cars: there is no parking on site, although paid parking garages are available nearby. Please take public transportation if at all possible.
• Illegal drugs or alcohol
• Weapons
• Anything that is not legal to have in public in Boston
BRINGING YOUR ART
We invite you to bring your art, performance, or artistic endeavors and hope that you will take advantage of FIGMENT as a creative outlet for your work. Please note that you cannot bring anything that needs to be staked into the ground, be connected to a power source, plotted on the map, or scheduled for a stage or performance area unless your project is pre-registered with FIGMENT. If you want to bring a project that does need any over the above, please submit your project! The submissions deadline for projects is April 7, 2012.
